We have the chance to purchase t-shirts from our adopted unit, the 1185th DDSB.
The back of the shirts
We’ve been given a tentative price of $15 per shirt. But if you want to help and don’t need a shirt of your own, you can also donate to the t-shirt fund to buy t-shirts for the needier family members. This is another great way to support the soldiers and families if you haven’t been able to get to any of our other events!
If you’re interested, please contact Shawn Williams via email or by phone (717-799-0991).
Are you looking for some adorable company for a brief period of time? One of our adopted soldiers is returning home in June and needs a pet sitter for two weeks as he and his wife go on a cruise! While they’re gone, they’re looking for a responsible, loving person to take care of Chloe for a little over a week.
Chloe is a wonderful little dog but does best with no other pets around. She is a Boston Terrier and weighs 20 pounds. She loves belly rubs and snuggling next to people and to sleep under the covers (and really, who doesn’t?)! But she is a crate trained and can be left alone for up to a normal business day and can sleep in it if she has to. She loves to play ball; she is obsessed with fetching!
This would be a great opportunity for a child that wants to prove they’re up to the task of getting their own pet, or just someone that would like to help out one of our adopted soldier’s families!
This would be for June 12th through the 20th. If you’re interested, please email webmaster@vfwpost7294.org.
Recently, one of our founding members, 92-year-old Harry Lines, was flown with other WWII veterans to the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Washington, DC for the premiere of HBO’s “The Pacific.” During the event, Harry was treated like the hero he was, and he and the other veterans were honored both by the Marriott and Tom Hanks and Stephen Spielberg. Harry was also interviewed for a brief documentary about the experience:
Have you thanked a veteran today? If you haven’t, why not come by the post on Sunday, April 11th at noon and join us for a Spaghetti Dinner (tickets are $8). Not only can you thank the veterans that are members of the post, we’re going to have live Skype web chats (with web cameras/voice) with some of the soldiers from the 1185th DDSB, our adopted unit, that are currently deployed overseas!
We will be joined by family members of the 1185th, who are enduring the hardships of their beloved family members being away from them. They could certainly use a THANK YOU, too!
Congratulations went out to our District 9 Commander, Carson Kauffman, and the District 9 Ladies Auxiliary President, Kathy Kauffman.
As you know, in addition to being the District 9 Commander, Carson is also our Post Commander. Likewise, Kathy is our Ladies Auxiliary Treasurer. They’ve both been heavily involved in our post for years, and their support and guidance has kept the post strong!
Saturday night, their officers, families and friends came together to show their support in the Testimonial Dinner, where Carson and Kathy were honored. The Toastmaster was Larry Reece, the State Jr. Vice Commander. The invocation was given by Kathy Adams, District 9 Ladies Auxiliary Chaplain.
