November Monthly Meeting (MOVED UP!)

Because of Thanksgiving, our monthly meeting will be a week early this month. Post/Aux meetings will be at 6:30pm (Regular/Aux members only), and the Corporate meeting will follow (usually around 7:30pm – any regular, auxiliary or social member is allowed to attend, but only regular members may vote on any issue). Social distancing and masks will be required; we will set up tables and chairs with appropriate spacing.

Chicken BBQ 11/14/20

Sales open at 11am and go until we’re sold out. We will have half-chickens and dinners available. This is the first time we’ve tried a “cold weather” chicken BBQ, so it’s going to be a smaller BBQ than normal – hopefully we sell out and that will encourage us to keep going with these over the winter months!

You’ve got enough cooking to do coming up in a couple weeks – take a break and let us make the chicken for you!
Half chicken: $7, Meal: $10

Meat Tray and 50/50 Bingo!

Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 1 PM EST – 3:30 PM EST

Open to the public! Share this post and tag some friends…
Meat tray and 50/50 bingo will be held in our banquet area. No alcohol will be served.
Bingo cards will be $1 per card per game. You can play as many cards you want. We have 2 blackout games at end, these will be $2 per card. These are 50-50 as well!
We will have 20 games, 10 of the games will be for assorted meats worth $20-$25 each. The other 10 will be 50-50 games! The winner gets half the pot and the VFW gets the other half. If we have more than 1 bingo at any of the games we will draw straws and whoever gets highest number will get the package of meat, the other will get $10.00.
For the money games, the half the player wins will be split between how many people have bingo at the same time.
Come out for a fun day, win some prizes, and support your local VFW!
Volunteers needed – if you can help out, please contact Deb Miller at 717-808-6520.

Update from the Officers

Members: as the covid restrictions have carried on, like so many other businesses we are suffering. We are unable to conduct the volume of business we need to be profitable. We are doing our best to survive, but if there was ever a time we need our members to get involved and support the Post, it is now.

Obviously nobody likes operating the way we have to right now. That is not our decision, and we’re trying to make the best we can of the situation. We can’t have patrons sitting and drinking and gambling for any length of time like we used to, and that hurts us. Just being open costs us far more than being closed – we’re losing more money now than when we were closed!

And yes, we know everyone wants to wave their “Not my governor!” flags and ignore the law, but just a single fine would ruin us, never mind what would happen if we lost our liquor license (or Small Games of Chance license, or Bingo license, or – so on and so on). Not to mention putting our members – who are a large part of the vulnerable population – at risk.

If you have ideas for fundraising, please share! We’re working on some ideas now, but are open to others. When we have events, we need everyone to get involved, volunteer and help wherever needed. Donations are of course welcome, and please feel free to come in and spend to your hearts’ desire – so long as you follow the rules!

EDIT: I should also mention a BIG thanks to Lori Miller and our Auxiliary for the amazing job they did putting together the fantastic Craft Vendor fest this past weekend, which was a very successful fundraiser!
