Soldier enlists help to send his wife a ‘happy birthday’

From LancasterOnline.com comes a heart-warming story of a local soldier sending birthday wishes to his wife:

What kind of special birthday gift can a young soldier get for his wife while he’s fighting in Afghanistan?
Spc. Zachary Kuhns of Marietta came up with an idea to make today special and memorable for his wife, Nykole.

With the help of a few local children and a friend with a camera, plus a lot of e-mails and telephone calls over the past several weeks, Kuhns asked to have his birthday greeting published in the newspaper today as a surprise for Nykole Kuhns’ 22nd birthday.

“I wanted something that would mean a lot to her and would last a lifetime,” Kuhns said, “something that was from the heart.”

Kuhns, 23, has been stationed with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in Kabul for nearly six months now.

His wife works for Lancaster County’s Office of Domestic Relations.
