  1. You shut down the kitchen but there is enough money to have your margarita ville party. You sneak around behind the backs of all the members and just shut the kitchen down without any discussion. The Board of this club should hang their heads in shame for the way you have handled this. If we are so low on money why didn’t you up the dues, or the food prices or the drink prices or all of them. No you just shut the kitchen down. You don’t give a shit about the members who supported this club for years. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU.

  2. First, the kitchen isn’t shut down. We’ve cut back on the menu, but the kitchen is still open. Second, the cost of the party is extremely minimal – the decorations were donated, it is being staffed by these same board members. Third, there was (and has been) plenty of discussion about this, and it has been going on for years. The things we have been trying haven’t worked, and this isn’t a problem exclusive to us – look around you, there isn’t a business in our area that isn’t suffering. Finally, we have up’d the drink prices and are up’ing the food prices. We do care about the members and the club, and that’s why we’ve been working hard on this. Feel free to come out tonight in support of the club and we can discuss this at the party – Board members are at the club every single day and are always approachable.

  3. Is is customary for VFW members who are also DAV members to wear their VFW uniforms with DAV hats? I’m seeing this a lot in my community.

  4. I believe that VFW uniform’s are dictated Post to Post during normal functions; the VFW cap should be worn during meetings, but even that is just a “preferred” suggestion and not a hard law. I’ll ask Jim Cunningham – he’s our repository of knowledge when it comes to things like that! Thanks for stopping by, Jannie!

  5. Thanks. I was just curious. This is how they do public functions and it just seems a bit weird to me.

  6. Hi again, Jannie – I did check with our most senior members, and they felt this wasn’t a problem.
