ANOTHER SCAM ALERT!

Veterans are reporting that they are receiving calls from people claiming to be from the VA Pharmacy. The callers are telling Veterans that the billing procedure for prescriptions has changed, and that the Veteran needs to provide his/her credit card number for prescription payment before Pharmacy will fill their medication requests.

All billing for any VA treatment and/or prescriptions is done through the MCCR Section of the VA. If the Veteran wishes to pay his/her account by credit card, the Veteran must provide the credit card number to our Agent Cashier. Our Agent Cashier is the only VA employee authorized to accept credit card payments.

Car Wash to support the 1185th DDSB Army Reserve Family Readiness Group

This unit’s Family Readiness Group will be having a car wash in Millersville at Lebzelter’s on Manor Ave. Sep. 7th from 9am till…? Proceeds from this event will help to support activities for the families left behind while they are serving far from home.

The 1185th DDSB is one of the units under consideration to be “adopted” by the Post, but even if we pick another, this is still a great opportunity to support our comrades. If you can’t help wash the cars, come out and have your car washed!

National Convention to be Streamed Live from Phoenix

The National Convention will be streamed online (so you can watch it live during the day) on the National VFW website:

Live streaming is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. (MST) on August 17, during the call to order of the VFW/Ladies Auxiliary, Joint Opening Session. The live stream will continue for the duration of the session, including presentations of the VFW Hall of Fame Award to Connie Stevens, the VFW Eisenhower Distinguished Service Award to Gen. Michael Hayden (ret.), as well as appearances by many other notable guests.

Streaming of the VFW General sessions will continue live August 18 – 20, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Replays will run from approximately 1 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. the next day.

Don’t miss Buzz Aldrin, Scott Carpenter, World Wrestling Entertainment’s Sgt. Slaughter, the installation of our next VFW Commander-in-Chief Tommy Tradewell and much more!

We’ll have to see if we can spot Post Commander (and District 9 Commander) Carson Kauffman in any of the meetings!

Beginning 8:00 a.m. (MST) on August 17th, you’ll be able to view the feed on the VFW National Website. If possible, we’ll embed the feed from the VFW site on our site here.

Scam Artist Still Operating

From the national HQ website, the scam artist that’s been targeting VFW posts is still operating:

A con artist continues preying on the generosity of sympathetic veterans, managing to bilk numerous VFW Posts around the country out of as much as $400 each by posing as either a veteran who has “filled out an application” to join a specific Post or as a current VFW member.

If you receive a call or an email from someone asking for help, don’t feel bad if you want to check out their story before offering aide – you can call the Post Office (or even the Post Commander Carson Kauffman) to check out anyone’s story. If he doesn’t know them off the top of his head, he will certainly be able to find out about them! A real member will understand and will have the patience while you verify their story!
